De coronapandemie heeft niet alleen zijn sporen nagelaten op de volksgezondheid, maar ook op de samenleving in brede zin. Sociologische inzichten over de veranderingen in bijvoorbeeld ongelijkheid, sociabiliteit en maatschappelijke veerkracht worden steeds duidelijker nu de start van de pandemie verder achter ons ligt. In deze bundel laten sociologen en wetenschappers uit aanverwante disciplines hun licht schijnen op de uitdagingen van deze tijd. Hierbij staan drie vragen centraal: 1. wat weten we van de maatschappelijke gevolgen van corona, 2. waarover zijn we het oneens als wetenschappers?, en 3. wat leert de pandemie ons over grootschalige uitdagingen in de toekomst? Le chemin parcouru semble immense de la loi de 1971 élevant la formation au rang d'obligation nationale à celle de 2018 pour la liberté de choisir son avenir professionnel qui consacre un sujet autonome dans ses choix de formation. Il serpente entre un monde du travail singulièrement incertain et des entreprises enserrées dans des choix financiers parfois inextricables. Quant aux individus, ils sont plus ou moins soudainement déclarés autonomes, voire requis de l'être, dans un paradoxe pour le moins vertigineux : ils sont ballotés entre le souci de maintenir leur employabilité, l'aspiration à défendre ou conquérir leur part de liberté de choix et la soumission, bon gré, mal gré, à des injonctions, tout particulièrement celle de se former. C'est sur cette question de l'injonction à se former que se concentre l'ouvrage : il éclaire, dans une approche résolument psychopédagogique, les mécanismes à l'oeuvre chez l'apprenant adulte. Il interroge le stéréotype selon lequel obligation rimerait immanquablement avec démotivation. L'auteure a mené une vaste recherche empirique combinant méthodologies qualitative et quantitative dans les secteurs public et privé. Les concepts d'engagement, de valeur perçue de la formation, de légitimité perçue de l'obligation et de dispositions à apprendre structurent la restitution des principaux résultats.
